Variables are made up of a set of Categories and these can be thought of as the possible options for a Variable. Categories also help describe data by creating more data points to store a metric against.
For example, the variable “State or Territory” will have a set of Categories like “New South Wales”, “Victoria” and so on (for data in Australia). This would allow us to enter data for each state as a separate data point.
